Cast Stone 12"dia. x 2" |
Ca. 650AD |
This detailed reproduction of a Mayan ball court marker is cast in stone at approx. 1/3 scale. The stone disk is perfectly balanced for display as an intriguing artifact or can be used in the garden. With the look of carved and pecked limestone this reproduction also functions as a great stepping stone and marker. |

The original carved stone resided in the center of Ball Court II at the site of Copan in western Honduras. This detailed reproduction depicts a Maya lord and god going head to head over a large rubber ball. Dressed in ceremonial & symbolic gear they square off on a stepped platform in an underworld framed by the four pointed 'maw of the earth'. |
